As President of Microsoft Payments, Inc., Youssef plans, directs and controls the entity’s overall business strategy and day-to-day-execution. Prior to joining Microsoft Payments, Inc., Youssef served as the Assistant General Counsel at Microsoft Corporation’s Legal and Corporate Affairs advising clients on a variety of financial regulatory and legal issues and payments. He has over 15 years of experience, in private practice and at Microsoft, advising clients on a variety of commercial transactions and commerce and payment services with a special focus on online and offline electronic payment services, prepaid access/stored value/virtual currency and cross-border payment. Prior to joining Microsoft, He was an attorney at Davis Wright Tremaine where he focused on corporate restructuring, reorganization and insolvency.

Phin Upham invests in private investments for Thiel Capital, an investment firm founded by Peter Thiel. He previously worked in investment banking at Morgan Stanley and Lazard Freres, and private equity at Tishman Speyer. He has been a Senior Fellow at Wharton, and a Visiting Scholar at NYU and Columbia. He is a Lecturer at Haas Business School at UC Berkeley. Phin earned his undergraduate degree from Harvard University and an MBA and PhD from Wharton Business School.
